Heeey peeeeps,

Here is my second blog Laughing yaaaay!

I was inspired by something to write this second blog. A few weeks ago this newsitem was on the tv and I was interested in it so I started to read up on it. I translated the Dutch article in English down here and at the end of the article the original link has been placed to the Dutch newsarticle. I post this because some of you might find this interesting to!

Boy got kicked, beaten and threatened with a knife.

The first penalty for virtual theft.

Is it theft if you steal virtual belongings from someone?

RuneScape

That question was answered with an outspoken ‘yes’ by a judge in Leeuwarden. Two boys, 14 and 15 years old, are sentenced to community service hours because they took items from a classmate by force in the internet game Runescape.

Knife

The victim went with the boys to their house. There he was kicked, beaten and threatened with a knife. The victim then gave all his virtual items, that he collected himself in the game, to the boys.

First time

It was the first time that a judge in The Netherlands had to decide if stealing virtual items is against the law. The judge came to the conclusion that items only available on the internet also have value, and should be considered as personal property. And so stealing these is against the law.

So there it is. In The Netherlands theft is not only taking someone's personal belongings that you can grab hold of, also taking someone's virtual items (that have value) is theft and can be sentenced. I find this a very interesting development and it might have some actual quite important consequences on future law decisions. It also has quite a strong philosphical element, because you can wonder what value really is and so what in the end theft really is.

Is this the new future form of stealing or theft? What do you all think about this development? Is there already some sort of law like this in your country? Share your thoughts with me Laughing

Anyways, next time you get scammed in GW, call the police Wink

PS In the last blog I added a little something personal (the video of Fuz), I think I will make this a habbit to all my blogs Laughing because I think it's nice. Also to get to know eachother. In this blog I will add two pictures of the park that's across the street of my small appartment. Well hope you enjoy and cya!

World changes
Yeah..

It's shocking and very sad that such violent events happen in real life because of game. :sigh

But same time its relief that theres justice and law to protect victims from the wrong-doings. At least in that case.

I havent heard yet if in Finland there is any of this kind of new added laws of online game stealings.. but wouldn't be surprised if in 5 years its more common area.
